Full Field:
Members for a Day
The biggest field in many months took the tee boxes at Crow Canyon Country Club in San Ramon. John Parker made it a double win, as he found his way around the course with a steady, clean 38-38 = 76 net 65 ... winning both
the Low Gross and the Low Net honors. (Great playing John and a
big boost of 124 Championship points!) Hot on his heels was Bob
Harley with his own sweet 77 net 68.
Early 2010 Champ Points are now posted.
Closest-to-the-Pin Awards went to:
Don Orlando #4
Don Orlando #6
(when you're hot you're hot)

Bill Rundstrom #12
Jim Buttafuoco #16
SKINS (@$123 EACH!) went to:

NCGA Foundation

With
more than $235,000 in 2008, the Foundation has awarded more than
$1 million to approximately 50 youth programs over the last 10 years.
A full list of this year's grant recipients can be found on the grants page.
The
NCGA Foundation awards grants on an annual basis to programs in
Northern California teaching life skills and values through golf. Grant
decisions are made in February with funding made available in April.
The
NCGA Foundation provides deserving youth the opportunity to develop life skills and values through
golf.
In order
to serve our mission, the NCGA Foundation:
- Awards grants to programs
teaching life skills and values to deserving youth through the
game of golf
- Increases the accessibility and affordability of golf
through Youth on Course
- Introduces new kids to golf through free clinics
- Supports personal development
and introductory career opportunities for adolescent golfers within the
golf industry.
In order to support youth programs
and initiatives, the Foundation raises funds in the following ways:

About the Pinseekers
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The Bay Area Pinseekers comprises about sixty men and
women golfers.
We hold seventeen to nineteen tournaments a year at top
venues like Silverado,
Hiddenbrooke, Poppy Ridge, Shadow Lakes, Metropolitan,
Wente Vineyards and
many
others. Tournaments are always played mid-week, never on
Friday,
Saturday or Sunday, and most fees are in the $50 to $60
range, which includes
your cart. A big event every year is
our Family Fun weekend. Past years were
Napa and Reno, this year is the Monterey Peninsula.
Bring your wife, husband, domestic partner or significant other for
three days of golf, dinner and relaxation
at a premium resort. At the end of the year we
hold a banquet, award a Club Champion, Runner Up, and Most Improved
Golfer, and raffle off a host of prizes. Being a non-profit
organization, we return any money not spent between January
and December to the membership in the form of gifts and
prizes at the banquet.
The club's annual membership dues are $80, which
includes your NCGA
membership. The benefits of NCGA membership are
not only a official USGA Handicap Index, but sunstantial discounts on
green fees and memberships at
Poppy Ridge and Poppy Hills golf coures.
Handicaps
among the members range from the high 20's down to single
digits, with an
even distribution, so there is a great mix of playing companions.
We play by the Rules
of Golf. No gimme putts, no bumping the ball in the fairway --
courtesy and respect for others as well as the golf course are
mandatory. We replace divots, fix ball marks, and rake
bunkers. We curse every drive that hooks into a hazard;
we lament every chilly-dipped wedge shot; and we fall ill to every
missed putt inside the throw-up zone. Yet always have a good
time. And oh yeah ....... No
slow play.
If you think you're interested,
e-mail us at Bay Area Pinseekers
with any
questions you
might have. A great
way to meet us is to join us for one of our many tournaments. Check out
the Tournament
Information, then e-mail us with your choice.
We'll
be glad to make the arrangements.
