  Pretty ... (windy!)... at Poppy
The winds challenged all at the northernmost home course of the
NCGA - Poppy Ridge.  Amazingly however, it didn't seem to bother some more than others as 12 combatants in the field of 47 shot net 72 or better - and 8 were in the net 60's!  (Helps to pay your NCGA dues.)  The course was in good shape although there are a number of bunkers under reconstruction (again ... the dues.)  But hey, at least they're working to make improvements on an already enjoyable 27 holes
for the benefit of all golfers, n'est-ce pas?

Low Gross honors went to Bob Harley (former Poppy Ridge employee if I do recall!?) with a sweet 80 (net 67) including a solid 37 on the Chardonnay nine and a natural eagle on Chardonnay #1.  Nice!  Meanwhile the Low Net went to John McPeak with a 92 (net 63)
followed by John Fry 90 (net 64) and David Geary's 87 (net 65.)

Closest-to-the-Pin Sharp Shooters! ...
John Fry (Merlot #2),
John Cuneo (Merlot #8),
Tony Lena (Chardonnay #3),
Roy Sullivan (Chardonnay #7)

Skins Winners cashed in BIG!!: 7 @ $51 each! ...
Jim Buttafuoco, Merlot #3, (par net birdie),
Roger O’Callaghan, Merlot #4, (birdie net eagle),
Gene Ho, Merlot #6, (birdie net eagle),
Steve Shaw, Merlot #8, (birdie net birdie),
Bob Harley, Chardonnay #1, (eagle net eagle),
Will Coates, Chardonnay #2, (birdie net birdie),
Rich Fletcher, Chardonnay #8, (birdie net eagle)

**  CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners!  **

Tee it ... FORWARD!

The United States Golf Association, Northern California Golf Association and Bay Area Pinseekers all encourage golfers to “Tee It Forward”.  That is, play from the set of tees best suited to your abilities.  You will post better scores, lose fewer balls and have more fun.  (And, after all, isn’t that what it should be about??)

At each of our club tournaments you have the option of playing from various sets of tees.  This chart is a guideline to help golfers align their average driving distance with the course length best suited to their abilities.
